At Horizon Trailers, we’re always focused on one thing, building trailers that help our customers get the job done better, faster, and with fewer headaches along the way. That means constantly reviewing what works, what can be improved, and where the industry is heading. Recently, after a lot of internal discussion and evaluation, we made the decision to begin using Dexter Axles instead of Lippert as the standard axle on all new Horizon trailers. This wasn’t a reactionary change or a quick pivot, it’s a strategic move based on long-term performance, service availability, and how we can deliver even more value to the people who trust our trailers every day.

Lippert has been a valued partner, and their axles have served many of our customers. We’ve built thousands of trailers using their components, and we’re proud of the performance those trailers continue to deliver. But as we looked ahead, considering what our customers deal with on tough job sites, during long hauls, and in challenging weather, we started asking: how can we improve the experience even further? Dexter emerged as the clear answer. They’ve been doing this for over 60 years, and their focus on quality control, innovation, and rider experience aligns perfectly with where we want to go as a brand. This change is about stepping into the future with stronger tools in place.

Why Dexter? Ride Quality, Support, and Proven Results

Dexter’s axles stood out to us for a few key reasons. First and foremost, the ride quality. Their torsion axle design allows for smooth handling, less bounce, and better load control, especially when the trailer is empty or partially loaded. Over time, that translates to less stress on the trailer frame and your cargo, whether you're hauling construction gear, landscaping materials, or anything in between. But it’s not just about performance on the road. Dexter also offers strong support system across the U.S., with easier access to parts, service centers, and warranty assistance. That means fewer delays when something needs attention and more confidence for our dealers and customers alike. When we looked at the full package, quality, reputation, and support, it became clear that this was the axle partner we wanted for our next generation of trailers.

What If You Already Own a Trailer with Lippert Axles?

If you’ve already got a Horizon Trailer with Lippert axles, rest assured, nothing changes for you. We continue to honor our warranties, provide service and support, and keep the parts flow moving for all previously built trailers. Our team is still here to help, and our commitment to our existing customers remains as strong as ever. This update is about where we’re going, not about taking anything away from the people who helped us get here. We’re proud of the trailers we’ve built with Lippert components, and we’ll continue to stand behind them with the same level of service and accountability you’ve come to expect from us.

A Stronger Foundation for What’s Next

At Horizon, we take pride in every weld, every bolt, and every decision that goes into our trailers. Switching to Dexter Axles isn’t just a spec sheet update, it’s a reflection of how seriously we take our role in your work and your success. We know that reliability on the road leads to more jobs completed, fewer breakdowns, and greater confidence with every load. By making this move now, we’re setting a new foundation for the kind of performance and peace of mind our customers deserve. We want Horizon Trailers to be something you’re proud to hook up to your truck, every single time.
